Britain is a relatively small place with great connections by rail in particular. York is at the centre of Britain and at the heart of the railway system. You can reach York from London in less than 2 hours. That rail line goes on up to Scotland to Edinburgh and Glasgow. We also have good connections to other major cities such as Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle and Leeds and direct connections to the South West via Bristol.

Once you are in York, it takes 5 minutes on a bike to head out on a river path towards the depths of the country but we also have the wonderful City of York to explore if you want a city break. The Romans established our city. The Vikings left their stamp. The Minster is the biggest (and most splendid) cathedral north of the Alps. York has been the centre of the railway industry and is where KitKat, Smarties, Fruit Pastilles and the Chocolate Orange originate from so there is plenty to keep all ages interested.
From York, our routes will take you in any direction you choose. The Dales offer rolling hills scattered with pretty villages and picturesque ruins. The Vale of York leads to stately homes, local craftsmen and wonderful scenery. The Wolds to the east will give you big skies and barely discovered dales - a must for those who long for tranquility and beautiful cycling.

Whatever brings you to Britain, fit in a trip to the Yorkshire countryside. It is a wonderful way to see the real England off the beaten track and it won't cost the earth!

Though we are well connected to the railways, we are also close to Hull where many of our northern European friends arrive in the country. Our Taste of Britain tour starts from Hull and is timed around P&O's ferry arrivals and departures.
