Yorkshire has so much to see and visit, so why hurry? We suggest you take your time while on a Scoot cycling holiday and stop off at some of Yorkshire's beautiful and historic sights. Your itinerary will include details of interesting places along your route, so you can choose to schedule in visits to explore what this lovely county has to offer.
Stately homes, churches & battlements
Yorkshire has a wealth of castles, grand houses, abbeys and monasteries, many of which are set within fabulous parkland or stunning gardens. Not to be missed in York are the Minster, Clifford's Tower, the City Walls and St Mary's Abbey ruins. In the countryside, our routes take you to Fountains Abbey and Ripon Cathedral in picturesque Nidderdale, the magnificent stately homes of Castle Howard and Harewood House, and the National Trust's Beningbrough Hall and Nunnington Hall.
Museums & cultural attractions
Whether it's trains, Vikings, chocolate or art, Yorkshire has a museum that will interest you. Highlights in York include the National Railway Museum, Chocolate Story, Castle Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. Haworth is well-known for its Bronte Parsonage Museum and at Saltaire you can see David Hockney's work exhibited. The spa town of Harrogate has the fascinating Pump Room and stunning Turkish Baths. There are plenty of theatres and festivals with opportunities to enjoy a variety of live musical performances.
Fun for all the family
You could try time travel and shake hands with a Viking, climb aboard a jet fighter or steam engine, learn about a country vet's life in the past at the James Herriot Centre, get your wheels (or more!) wet at the coast, or join a scary ghost tour of York. Whatever your family likes, we can recommend some fantastic activities. The only things your little ones need to bring along is their imagination and sense of adventure!
